Meet Heather Hoekstra, the new Lead Designer for Covenant Developments, a new home builder in Holland, MI.

Heather walks future Covenant residents through the design selection process of their new homes. In particular, Heather helps homeowners at The Reserve on Lake Macatawa design their luxury condo homes for the charming waterfront community in Holland, MI. The Reserve is located on the north side of Lake Macatawa and features 75 villas and detached, 2-3 bedroom condominium homes ranging from 1,800 to 3,100 sq ft in size.

Prior to starting with Covenant, a home builder in Holland, MI in January 2022, Heather worked for JD Snip Builders as lead designer. She also owned her own design company, Home Refined. She holds a Bachelors Degree with a Major in Fashion Design and Minor in Marketing from Western Michigan University.

We asked Heather, “What’s a common question you get from customers or co-workers?”

She responded, “They often ask, ‘What is the design style you’ve been seeing the most throughout the community?’”

As someone who loves working with and meeting new people, Heather will help ensure that each home buyer designs their own personalized look. In her role, she meets with home buyers to help them be successful during the design process. Separately in the back office, she finds that her new coworkers and team are very supportive of one another and encourage growth.

She currently lives in Spring Lake with her husband, three teenagers, and the dog, where she cheers on her kids through all of their active sporting events. Heather loves the great outdoors where in the winter she enjoys skiing and snow shoeing, and during the summer, she enjoys biking, the beach, and visiting various towns along the lakeshore.

Every year Heather and her family vacation in Mackinac Island, a location that feels like a home away from home. In her free time, Heather enjoys volunteering at her children’s school whenever possible.

Personally, her current design style is considered transitional, and she loves to mix a bit of modern with something old. She also enjoys decorating with new textures that she will mix into a space to make it feel more cozy.
